Franklin Method Masterclass: Your Embodied Pelvis: Optimal Function, Movement and Health with Sarah Pritchard

The pelvis is a keystone in our body – a place where force is transferred and a place we can call our centre.

If you practice or teach a movement modality such as Pilates, Yoga or Dance understanding how your pelvis functions and moves in movement is critical for healthy movement, precision and alignment.

Your pelvis is definitely not a square, but this is one of the most used images for speed and a general idea – but to become optimal in what you do you need to be able to know and feel how your unique pelvis works.

During this workshop we take a deep dive into the pelvis and how is has been designed to move, what it can do and its relationship to the hips, knees, feet and lower back.

We will try out a range of strategies for moving with efficiency and health for you – which will reduce tension in your body, and make movement feel comfortable and effortless. Deepen your squats, your plié, improve your range of motion in the hips and the hamstrings and secure your landings and balances. For dancers discover how to improve your turnout beyond the traditional exercises you are used to doing without straining your knees and feet or putting needless wear and tear into your body, especially around the hip joint area. All of this can be done by deeply connecting the mind and body.

It it also key for health. Issues such as lower back pain, problems with your hips, knees, ankles or feet it is possible that some of the solutions you are looking for are to be found in your pelvis.

Franklin Method® is for humans, movers, yogis, dancers of all abilities and genres as your plié, knee bend or squat is an absolute fundamental regardless of whether you use it for ballet, contemporary or any form of dance, movement system or everyday life. Franklin Method is scientifically proven and is taught across the world in elite settings such as the Royal Ballet School, Julliard School, Bolshoi and our Centre for Advanced training in an implicit way (by me!)

So rather than repeating the same exercise and not improving, rather than getting frustrated that the cues you give are not getting the results, or rather than sensing something doesn’t quite feel right how about learning about your body and how it moves in the most fundamental way?

Very limited group size (8) as the nature of my studio is one which works with the individual – so you can ask questions and we can make things helpful for you and your body. Keeping you at the centre, no comparison, no criticism.
