Move with your Sacrum
The Importance of Sacral Movement
The sacrum is a triangular bone at the base of the spine. It is connected to the pelvis and coccyx, and it plays a key role in spinal stability, posture and movement. The sacrum moves in a natural rocking motion, and embodying this movement can help improve spinal alignment, reduce back pain and increase flexibility.
In this short clip for ISMETA’s Global Somatic Movement Day, Eric discusses the importance of the sacrum and how it evolved into what it is today. He also demonstrates a few choice exercises that can help improve sacral movement.
