Franklin Method Educators & Trainers

Rie began dancing at the University of Houston, Texas, where she was instantly drawn to the physical and mental challenges of modern dance. She sought to cultivate moments where one feels the joy of inhabiting one’s body. After earning her BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University, she performed with Cathy Paine and Mixed Media and Steve’s House Dance Collective. Her workshops and choreography have been presented through Steve’s House, the University of Richmond, College of Lake County, Christopher Newport University, as well as local dance studios.

For the last 18 years she has been actively teaching a variety of movement forms in every setting imaginable, including: The above mentioned Universities and Colleges, The Richmond Ballet, The Richmond Dance Center, Swift Creek Academy of the Performing Arts, Area Public and Private Schools, Yoga Source, Journey Home Yoga, Coreworks Fitness Studio, The Chesterfield County Seniors Center, her home studio, 2 fields and one parking lot.  Students from ages two through adult have enjoyed her informative and fun teaching style.

Rie is a certified and registered yoga instructor and offers continuing education workshops to yoga teachers. She was in the first US class to achieve a Level 3 Teachers Training Certification of the Franklin Method®.  In August of 2012 Rie joined the adjunct faculty at University of Richmond teaching Franklin Method® in the Kinetics for Dancers course for dance majors. Rie is a NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) approved provider of continuing education for licensed massage therapists and bodywork practitioners. Master Cass Overton granted Rie permission to teach the Tai Chi 5 Elements Form. Currently Rie lives in Richmond, Virginia, where you will find her teaching Franklin Method®, yoga and Tai Chi workshops to a variety of audiences throughout Maryland, North Carolina, D.C. and Virginia.
